Now

sally’s last dream

J. C. Dunyach / N. Wilhelm

Sally was lying on a bed of questions,

Steaming and dreaming on a river of diamonds.

But her boat sank again and life remains the same,

No one protects her from the head-shrinker’s games.

She won’t try to play again, she will never get a friend,

Leave her alone, leave her alone

She won’t try to love again, she will never get a friend,

Leave her alone, leave her alone

When her father said: life is a business,

Sally tried to smile in her loneliness,

Dreaming of sunny days to dry her eyes.

When the doctors caught her, she was trying to fly;

You know, everything was happening in her mind.

You know, she never tried to speak to anyone.

The other world she dreamed was quite a paradise,

But the heavens we make are nothing but lies.

Sally is lying on a hospital bed.

Grey walls and grey people, emptiness in her head.

She’s quiet and peaceful but her ideas have gone.

She’ll surely never sing her songs to anyone.
